Mapping Out Homeless Services in Salt Lake City

Monday, March 6 | 12:35 pm - 1:05 pm

What qualities of a homeless resource center make it successful? When the Salt Lake City Homeless Services Site Evaluation Commission searched for locations for new centers, it considered 16 criteria essential to success. These criteria included proximity to public transportation, room to keep all services indoors, and a safe distance from known drug trade activity. How were they able to consider so many factors and find suitable sites? They brought in data from multiple sources, used it to create maps of possible options, and then used those maps to support their final choices. Hear from Salt Lake City's Nole Walkingshaw about the commission's process and how you can go through a similar one in your city.
