Director, Government Performance, Socrata
Jeff Press is the Practice Leader for Government Performance at Socrata. In this role, Jeff is responsible for driving performance improvement and data-driven decision making across Socrata’s federal, state, local, and international government customers.
Jeff previously served as the Deputy Director of Performance Strategy at the U.S. Department of Commerce where he was responsible for leading performance improvement and innovation across the entire organization. Prior to Commerce, Jeff worked with the White House Office of Management and Budget to revamp the U.S. Performance Improvement Council. He served as a Senior Advisor and was instrumental in establishing the Council as the central hub for government-wide benchmarking and collaboration focused on performance management. Jeff also played a key role in implementing the President’s Management Agenda.
Prior to his position supporting the White House, Jeff served as the Executive Director and Founder of The Center for Radical Improvement, a government think tank dedicated to helping government at all levels radically improve performance. Jeff also served as the Executive Director of the Process Improvement Council at the Performance Institute and as the Director of the Center for Government Performance.
Jeff has been interviewed as a government performance expert on ABC-7 in Washington, DC, has authored articles for Government Executive Magazine and The Public Manager, and is published in the Public Performance & Management Review. Jeff graduated from the George Washington University and resides in Washington, DC.
