Performance Data Manager, City of Memphis, TN
Nick Walker is the Performance Data Manager in the Office of Performance Management for the City of Memphis. He and his talented team of data wonks aim to better their city by utilizing best practices and collaborating with partners both internal and external, all while making growth and improvement transparent to the public.
He worked with city leadership to draft an Open Data Policy and helped convene a data governance committee whose members oversee the adoption of that policy. His work focuses on acquiring, standardizing and measuring the data necessary to make an actionable, positive impact on the lives of Memphians. Prior to coming to Memphis, Nick worked in both the public and private sector as a database administrator, the manager of a smart meter rollout, and a member of a process development team at a Fortune 500 company.
An unapologetic Memphis Grizzlies fan, in another life he was an award-winning sports reporter who decided on a career change to take on the tech sector. Nick holds a master’s degree in Information Quality from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and is an Oracle-certified DBA.
